LocalGov Drupal is the shared distribution many councils in our network build on. It moves quickly, and the release notes are written for the people doing the work, which means they are long. This is the short version for anyone who needs to brief a manager or plan their next sprint.
Drupal 11 everywhere
The core modules and most of the optional ones now support Drupal 11. If you are still on Drupal 10, the upgrade path is well trodden: update contrib, run upgrade_status, fix the deprecations it reports, and then move core. Our November upgrade sprint in Birmingham is set up exactly for this, so bring your site.
Events search and filters
The events listing now uses a cleaner date range picker, and the filters for category, price and area work together properly. If you have customised the events view, check your overrides after updating, because a couple of filter identifiers changed.
Base theme defaults
The base theme has better focus styles out of the box, a working skip link on every page and an add-to-calendar component on event pages. Sub-themes pick these up automatically unless you have overridden the templates. It is worth diffing your overrides against the new base templates, because some of them may no longer be needed.
How to keep up
The LocalGov Drupal project publishes release notes on Drupal.org and runs open product calls every fortnight. Several of our members sit on those calls. If you want something raised, post it in the LocalGov Drupal group on the community platform and we will take it along.
